The speed of light is incredibly slow, when you look it from a cosmic perspective.
For instance, it is accepted that a signal from Mars to Earth would take between 3 (in ultra optimal conditions) and 22.3 minutes (more realistic).
We cannot imagine living with such data delay.
And this is the current physical limit that we know for maximum speed. (Without getting in quantum and so on theories)
